What does the UPSALES 4U voice agent disclose to callers under EU rules?

UPSALES 4U's voice agent states plainly that it is AI at the start of every call, announces before recording begins, repeats the AI disclosure if the call moves between a human operator and the agent, and keeps recordings and transcripts in your dashboard under GDPR-based processing controls.

This page describes our product's behaviour, not legal advice — using it does not by itself make your business compliant with the AI Act, GDPR, or any other regulation.

What does the agent say to disclose it is AI, and when?

Article 50 of the EU AI Act requires AI systems that interact directly with people to make that clear, unless it is already obvious from context. The obligation applies from 2 August 2026. UPSALES 4U's agent opens every call with a short statement that it is an AI assistant, in the caller's language, before any other exchange happens.

Does the agent announce that the call is being recorded?

Yes. Before recording starts, the agent tells the caller the call is being recorded and states the purpose — quality review, dispute resolution, or model improvement, depending on your settings. Recording begins only after that notice, and the wording is configurable per account.

What happens to recordings and transcripts after the call?

Recordings and transcripts are stored in your account's dashboard, accessible to the users you grant access to. Retention periods and deletion are set by you, not hard-coded by the platform. Processing follows the data-protection rules that apply to your business under GDPR.

What happens if the call is transferred between a human operator and the agent?

Article 50 treats a change from AI to human, or from human to AI, as a new interaction that needs its own disclosure. When UPSALES 4U hands a call from the agent to your operator, or back, it repeats a short statement of who — or what — the caller is now speaking with. This applies in both directions of the handover.

Is a voice AI agent classified as high-risk under the AI Act?

A voice agent that answers calls, books appointments, or routes requests — without making decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on a person — generally falls under the AI Act's transparency obligations for limited-risk systems, not the high-risk category. If your use case includes automated decisions such as credit or eligibility screening, that classification can change; check with your own counsel. This page is not a substitute for that review.
